Board Members

Michelle Munro is a passionate advocate for literacy, education, and lifelong learning. An avid reader and dedicated library supporter, she spent more than a decade working in the public library system, helping connect community members with resources, programs, and a love of reading.
Today, Michelle serves as a high school teacher, inspiring and preparing students for careers in education. Through her work in the classroom, she helps young people explore their potential as future educators and leaders.
Beyond her professional roles, Michelle enjoys quilting, teaching sewing lessons, and spending time outdoors with her family. She is also an active advisor for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), where she mentors students as they develop leadership, career, and life skills.

Erick Peterson, a former newspaper editor and writer, became Friends of the Library Vice President in May 2026. He has been a Friends member since 2024. A former Hermiston library board member and current Stanfield Public Library volunteer, Erick cares deeply about book-related issues. Besides loving the Hermiston Public Library, he is devoted to local book communities, especially ones at the Next Chapter Bookstore in Hermiston. He is an eclectic reader but is partial to fantasy, historical fiction and author Kristin Hannah. 

“The Monster at the End of This Book” is his favorite book.

Stephanie currently serves as Secretary and is a Past President of the Friends of the Hermiston Library. A lifelong believer in the power of libraries, she is passionate about promoting literacy, expanding access to learning, and creating opportunities that strengthen the entire community. 

In addition to her volunteer work, Stephanie is a real estate consultant serving Eastern Oregon. She enjoys bringing people together, building meaningful relationships, and finding ways to make a positive impact both professionally and through community service. 

When she's not volunteering or helping clients, you'll likely find her with a good book, spending time with her family, or looking for her next opportunity to give back.

Krista is a local small business owner and longtime believer in the power of books, libraries, and community connection.

She brings more than 30 years of business and organizational experience to her work with the Friends of the Hermiston Public Library and enjoys finding practical ways to help the organization grow, connect with the community, and support the library.

Krista is also the Founder and President of the Eastern Oregon Women’s Business Lab and is active in several local community organizations.

An avid reader and enthusiastic supporter of the Hermiston Public Library, Krista believes libraries are about much more than books - they are places where people can learn, connect, explore, and belong.
