Board Members

Elections are held every November during our Annual Meeting.  Positions are either one or two year terms.

Michelle Munro is a passionate advocate for literacy, education, and lifelong learning. An avid reader and dedicated library supporter, she spent more than a decade working in the public library system, helping connect community members with resources, programs, and a love of reading.
Today, Michelle serves as a high school teacher, inspiring and preparing students for careers in education. Through her work in the classroom, she helps young people explore their potential as future educators and leaders.
Beyond her professional roles, Michelle enjoys quilting, teaching sewing lessons, and spending time outdoors with her family. She is also an active advisor for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), where she mentors students as they develop leadership, career, and life skills.

Erick Peterson, a former newspaper editor and writer, became Friends of the Library Vice President in May 2026. He has been a Friends member since 2024. A former Hermiston library board member and current Stanfield Public Library volunteer, Erick cares deeply about book-related issues. Besides loving the Hermiston Public Library, he is devoted to local book communities, especially ones at the Next Chapter Bookstore in Hermiston. He is an eclectic reader but is partial to fantasy, historical fiction and author Kristin Hannah. “The Monster at the End of This Book” is his favorite book.
